India Clinch Historic Test Series Victory in Australia with Dramatic Final Day

India Clinch Historic Test Series Victory in Australia with Dramatic Final Day

India achieved a monumental 3-1 Test series victory against Australia on a dramatic final day at the Gabba, Brisbane. Chasing 328 runs on a deteriorating pitch, India's young batting lineup showed extraordinary resilience, with 22-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring an unbeaten 161 to seal the win with just three wickets and four overs to spare.

Jaiswal's Masterclass

Jaiswal's innings will be remembered as one of the greatest in Test cricket history. Walking in at 2 for 1 on the morning of Day 5, he faced 297 balls, hitting 18 fours and 3 sixes. His partnership of 187 with Virat Kohli, who contributed a gritty 56, laid the foundation before a breezy 43 from Ravindra Jadeja took India to the finish line.

Australian captain Pat Cummins threw everything at India, employing seven bowling changes and aggressive field placements, but the Indian batsmen held firm. The pitch offered variable bounce and turn, making every run a hard-fought achievement.

"This ranks alongside our greatest overseas victories. The way this young team handled pressure on Day 5 at the Gabba shows the depth and character of Indian cricket," said head coach Gautam Gambhir in the post-match press conference.

The series victory means India retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the fifth consecutive time. The result also significantly boosts India's chances of qualifying for the World Test Championship final. Jaiswal was named both Man of the Match and Player of the Series for his aggregate of 572 runs at an average of 71.50.
